Marko Ahtisaari
Born in Helsinki, Finland I was raised on three continents in Helsinki, Dar es Salaam and New York. I went on to study philosophy, economics and music at Columbia University where I lectured for several years. While at university I had a parallel professional life as a bassist and composer.
Today I am Executive Vice President of Design at Nokia. Recent things we've made in our design studio are the Nokia Lumia family of smartphones, the Nokia N9 (video), and the Nokia X3.
I also serve on the board of directors of Artek and WITNESS.
Prior to Nokia I was CEO and Co-founder of Dopplr, the social atlas for smart travellers around the world. Nokia acquired Dopplr in 2009. Before that I was part of the team behind Blyk, the free mobile network for young people, funded by advertising.
In the in-between moments I continue to compose ambient music, give lectures, and occasionally sing arias.
