I am an entrepreneur, designer and investor.
I'm currently a Director's Fellow at the MIT Media Lab.
For the last four years I was leading product design at Nokia, responsible for both hardware and user interface design. Recent amazing products by the Nokia design team include the award-winning Lumia family of smartphones, the N9, and the affordable Asha and 105.
I left Nokia in November 2013 to return to being an entrepreneur.
Previously, I was CEO and Co-founder of Dopplr (acquired by Nokia in 2009) and part of the team at Blyk, the free ad-funded mobile network. I've held board positions in Artek and F-Secure, and have served on the jury of the Prix Ars Electronica and the DA&D Awards.
Born in Finland, I've lived on three continents, in Helsinki, Dar es Salaam and New York. I studied philosophy, economics and music at Columbia University, where I became a lecturer and Fellow of the Faculty in the Department of Philosophy. I played music professionally as a bassist and composer. I continue to make music and to sing Italian arias. I live in Helsinki with my wife Lisa.
