My Photo

I am an entrepreneur, designer and musician. I'm in the band Construction which you should definitely listen to.

I'm currently Artistic Director of the Helsinki Festival the largest multi-arts festival in the Nordics held annually from late August into September.

Previously I was CEO and co-founder of The Sync Project (acquired by Bose) and a Director's Fellow at the MIT Media Lab.

From 2009 to 2013 I was head of product design at Nokia, responsible for hardware, user experience and packaging design. The work of the Nokia design team includes the award-winning N9. I left Nokia to be an entrepreneur again.

Both directly and through early stage funds I've invested in Ōura, Formlabs, and Pelago among others. I'm also an advisor to Kano and on the Advisory Committee of WITNESS.

Previously, I was CEO and Co-founder of Dopplr (acquired by Nokia) and part of the team at Blyk, the free ad-funded mobile network. I've held board positions in Artek and F-Secure, and have served on the jury of the Prix Ars Electronica and the DA&D Awards.

Born in Finland, I've lived on three continents, in Helsinki, Dar es Salaam and New York. I studied philosophy, economics and music at Columbia University, where I became a lecturer and Fellow of the Faculty in the Department of Philosophy.
